Finding Caches Along a Route

Pocket Queries are a great way to get a list of caches in a particular area.  They are, however, based on a radius from a particular point.  You can easily set them up to find caches from your home coordinates, or from coordinates of where you might be visiting.

But what if you want to find caches while you are making your way from one point to another?  Regular Pocket Queries don't do this very well.  This is where you need to use the "Caches Along A Route" feature.  This tutorial will demonstrate how you can use this feature.

To use this feature, you will need the following things:

  • a Premium Membership--like Pocket Queries, this is a Premium feature
  • Google Earth--you can download it for free from here
  • a basic understanding of Pocket Queries.  You can learn about PQs here
Once you have all the above, you are ready to get started.  For this example, we will set up a route from Kingston to Toronto and get caches that are within 0.5 km from this route.

You will need to have FlashPlayer installed in order to view this video.
