Wipe The Map!

I'm going to archive all my caches in Kingston.

One look at the geocaching map of Kingston will tell you that this town is saturated with caches. But like most of us locals, I've found everything in a wide radius from my home. So now caching has changed for me, it's become a travel sport.

I'm hoping to regain some of that great fun and excitement I had when I first started caching. I want to wipe the map clean, and have all new caches in Kingston. So I'm archiving all my caches (in Kingston), and I'm hoping you will too.

The idea of wiping the map clean isn't new, I've heard it before. But then I think about all my hides. All the work, time and $ I've put into them. Some of them are classic!

Why should I archive them? Here why:

  1. Some of my hides, like "Sherbet Houdini", have hundred of finds. That means that the local cachers, my KAG friends, have all found them. And even though these caches are still fun for those visiting our area, I want to play this game with my friends most of all. Wiping the map would free up all those locations for new hides, and we can all visit those great places again (and that won't hurt the numbers either!)
  2. Most of my hides have been there a long time. "Pain in the Cache" is a good example. I put a lot into it, and it's been fun. But realistically, all the locals have had a couple years to find it. And visiting cachers are unlikely to seek such a difficult and time consuming hide. So it's archive time, along with all my other puzzles. It's time for some new puzzles from new players.

I know this might seem drastic, but I've given it much thought. I like this game. And I like the friends I've made. So on Tuesday Oct 12th I'm going to archive all my Kingston caches, and I'm asking, with my nicest and most polite voice, for you to do the same.

Please join me and WIPE THE MAP!
